Having a special date/time/date-time chooser in dynamic metadata would make it a lot easier for users to add things like “Original Publication Date” or add more finely granular expiration dates like “Home Page Expiration” and “Section Expiration”.

An example I have is with news pages. I want to set an archive date. The date wouldn't need to "do" anything (like start and end date), but simply be a date the XSLTs can reference (remove from story link from "current" news stories; add link to "archived" news stories).

I have to handle this now by putting the archived date field in the data definition, which is unfortunate because it "feels" like metadata. But at least it works!

and, in the news example, when you add the date to the data definition, you have to drag along the full story in order to access it - making the index block very large.
