Do not check all publishing destinations by default. Perhaps when setting up a destination, have an option to say “Check by default”. This way, if users have the option to publish to a staging server before publishing to their live site, they don’t accidently publish to the live site.

    How about extending this a little further and being able to configure what is by default checked at the Site level?

    Nathaniel, I like your idea!  I'd like to say "Always check Staging destination by default".  And even controlling it with permissions at the group level would be helpful.

    I agree, having all destinations checked by default is a problem for us.  Users don;t see it.  Either uncheck them by default or give admins the ability to select which should be selected by default.
